ELIZABETH — Leslie Maddox, the head coach of the Elizabeth Bulldogs, has announced that his school will be hosting one of several regional three-point contests, with the winners advancing to the Louisiana High School Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game in March at Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport.

Elizabeth’s regional is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14.

There are a few rules for the event for the participant, most notably that the competitor must play for a team which is a member of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association and that their coach must be a registered member of the LHSBCA.

There will be three rounds to the competition, which is for both boys and girls. In each round, competitors will have one minute to shoot 20 three-point shots. Four shots will be attempted from five spots — the two corners, the two wings and the top of the key.

The first three shots at each spot, if made, are worth one point each. If a shooter makes the fourth shot at a spot, that is the money ball and worth two points. If all shots are made, the point total would equal 25.

The first round of the competition is open to all participants, with the top five advancing to the second round. The top two scores from Round 2 will face off in the finals, with the winner advancing to the all-star event on Saturday, March 21, at Hirsch Coliseum.

A waiver and release form must be signed by each participant prior to competing in the event.
