Leesville native Ronald P. Clark was promoted to the rank of brigadier general on Fort Bragg, N.C. on Friday, April 24.

Leesville native Ronald P. Clark was promoted to the rank of brigadier general on Fort Bragg, N.C. on Friday, April 24.

Clark is deputy commander of the famed 82nd Airborne Division based out of Fort Bragg. The 82nd ABN is comprised of four brigade combat teams, a combat aviation brigade, a fires brigade (artillery) and a headquarters and headquarters battalion, comprising a total of approximately 14,500 soldiers.

Although his military career has soared, Clark has local roots. He is a 1984 graduate of Leesville High School, carrying the title of Wampus Cat up through the ranks of the U.S. military. He was commander of the Leesville High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) in 1983-84.

After graduation from LHS, Clark attended West Point Military Academy, from which he graduated in 1988.

Clark is married to Simona L. Clark of DeQuincy. They have two children, Matthew and Megan. He is the son of MSG (Ret.) Patrick W. Clark and Laura J. Clark of Leesville.
