Each day’s qualifying begins at 8 a.m. and will conclude at 4:30 p.m.

Positions up for election on the statewide level are governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general, treasurer, commissioner of agriculture and commissioner of insurance.

If planning on running from one of these state offices, you must qualify in Baton Rouge at the Secretary of State’s Office.

Locally, seats to be contested include state senator, state representative, sheriff, clerk of court, assessor, coroner and police jury, along with special called elections for Ward 5 constable, Rosepine chief of police and 30th Judicial District judge, Division C.

To qualify locally, you must go to the Vernon Parish Clerk of Court’s Office.

The deadline to register to vote for the October election is Sept. 23, 2015.
