A Leesville man is charged with rape and other felonies stemming from an alleged incident on Sunday.

According to a Leesville Police Department news release, a woman told police on Sunday she had been raped by a man who she hired to mow her lawn.

Sherman Holloway, 23, allegedly went to the woman’s house on his bicycle and asked if he could could mow the grass. She agreed, but a short time later he allegedly entered her home and forced her to have sex with him at knife point.

The suspect then attempted to force the victim to leave the residence to get money at an ATM from her account at which time she was able to escape. The suspect additionally stole items from the victim prior to leaving the residence, police said.

Officers and Investigators subsequently identified Holloway as the suspect. He was located at a residence in Leesville where he was taken into custody without incident.

Holloway is charged with first-degree rape, aggravated battery, home invasion, aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police did not divulge the victim’s age or the vicinity in which her home is located.
