Children who took part in the Vernon Parish Library’s summer reading program were in for a treat on

Wednesday when the “Zooniversity” wildlife show with live animals was the highlight of the program. Zooniversity is a traveling wildlife education company that introduces children and adults to the world of animals. Zooniversity founder and wildlife educator Allison Knox Blankenship showed six different animal “survivors” to the group. Each animal had learned a different way to adapt and survive in the wild. The children got to meet a Vinegaroon, a Lesser Tenrec, an African Ball Python, a Virginia Opossum, a Common Chuckwalla, and a Groundhog.
