“Buddy” is a Lab mix. He is black with white markings and is about three years old, weighing 58 pounds. He is ready to play, or fetch, or walk or whatever fun things he new owner wants to do. “Acrobat Annie” is a female domestic short hair, black and about five months old. Flips, jumps, rolls and hops are her speciality. Buddy and Acrobat Annie are among animals available for adoption at the Vernon Parish Animal Shelter located at 272 J.L. O’Banion Road off of La. 467 near Northwestern State University- Leesville/Fort Polk Campus. Adoptions are made on a first-come, first-serve basis. The adopter is to take their new pet to a licensed veterinarian within three days of adoption for a complete health check. Rabies Vaccination and spay/neuter is required. Proof of compliance must be provided to the Animal Shelter. Adoption fee is $2 for every day the animal has been in the shelter.
