SIMPSON — Last year, the Simpson Lady Broncos shared the District 3-C league title with the Pleasant Hill Lady Eagles.

This year, the Lady Broncos have it all to themselves.

The Lady Broncos (20-11, 5-0) had four players score in double figures as they coasted to a 63-36 win over the Ebarb Lady Rebels on Tuesday night, claiming the District 3-C title outright in the process.

Ebarb (7-20, 2-3) took an early lead over the Lady Broncos, going up, 5-2, on three free throws from Raeghan Lewing and a bucket from Kaylyn Sepulvado.

The Lady Broncos battled back to tie it up thanks to three points by Torie Calcote, only to watch Sepulvado give the Lady Rebels the lead again.

However, by the end of the frame, Simpson had taken a 9-8 lead on two free throws from Ally Berry.

Ebarb, however, managed to reclaim the lead on a couple of occasions during the second period, the final time coming on a bucket by Savannah Torres, giving the Lady Rebels a 15-14 advantage.

However, a basket from Ashley Addison sparked a 16-2 run to end the first half, the final three points coming off of a bank shot triple at the buzzer by Calcote, giving Simpson a 30-17 lead.

It was all Simpson during the third period as freshman Payton Miller began to find the range.

Miller scored nine points during the frame, leading Simpson on a 22-9 outburst to open up a 52-26 cushion entering the final eight minutes of regulation.

The Simpson lead grew to as much as 30 during the final session as the subs came off the bench and contributed for the Lady Broncos as Kiersten Standifer and Trinity Paris notched a bucket each.

Calcote paced the Lady Broncos in the win with 15 points, while Berry contributed 14 points. Berry also reached double figures in rebounds with 15.

Miller chipped in with 13 points, while Addison had 12 points and five steals in the win.

The Lady Rebels had only one player reach double figures in the contest, that being Lewing, who had 10 points.

Torres and Sepulvado registered nine and eight points in the loss, respectively.

The Lady Broncos close out the regular season at home on Friday against the Evans Lady Eagles, while Ebarb will take on Sabine Parish rival Pleasant Hill.
