SIMPSON — After having lost the majority of their guard play from a year ago, along with a veteran head coach, the Simpson Lady Broncos have also had to deal with the injury bug.

With the victory, the Lady Broncos improved to 21-11 overall and a perfect 6-0 in district play.

The Lady Broncos will likely receive the No. 6 seed in the Class C playoffs when the pairings are released on Monday.

With that seed, the Lady Broncos will receive a bye in the first round and will play at home in the second round regardless of their opponent. That game will be played on Monday, Feb. 20.

Simpson took a quick 7-0 lead over the Lady Eagles (1-21, 0-6) as Ally Berry scored five of the points, while Ashley Addison scored a bucket in the post.

After a bucket from Gollihugh, the Lady Broncos closed out the first period with a huge run, scoring 17 straight points.

Berry and Miller each scored seven points during the surge, while MacKenzie Rachal drained a 3-pointer, allowing the Lady Broncos to go into the second period with a commanding 26-9 advantage.

Simpson came out of the locker room with a quick 8-0 run to open up a 35-point lead, 47-12.

However, Evans once again responded with a run of its own, this one 10-0 as the Lady Eagles closed the gap to 25 points, 47-22.

But a 3-pointer from Berry, a layup by Miller and two free throws from Kiersten Standifer allowed the Lady Broncos to take a 54-25 lead into the fourth and final frame of regulation.
