Sheila Jarred, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Outreach Coordinator, from the Food Bank of Central Louisiana, will be available to assist with Food Stamp applications 9 a.m. - noon, Nov. 17 at Helping Hands Storefront in Leesville.

SNAP provides families in poverty with benefits to purchase food. The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) reports several Louisiana parishes where only 60% of those eligible participate in the program.


The SNAP program is targeted at the most vulnerable citizens, predominantly serving households with children, elderly, and disabled members.

In addition to providing assistance with SNAP applications, the Food Bank’s Outreach Coordinator can also assist with applications for child care assistance program, child support assistance program, child support enforcement program, family independence temporary assistance program, kinship care subsidy program, disaster supplemental nutrition assistance program formerly known as disaster food stamps.
