A Louisiana native is set to make his debut on the premiere of ABC’s revival of American Idol. Lane Hardy, of Livingston, is set to make his debut on the popular singing competition when the episode airs this Sunday.

Hardy was prominently featured in a promo video released by the American Idol Facebook Page. Hardy said “Playing with my band is fun, but I am really excited about going solo and testing my limits to see what I can do.” Hardy said that he spends his time singing, performing with his band, going to school, and fishing in the swamp.

The promo teases that Hardy will have a memorable encounter with country music superstar and show judge Luke Bryan. “I’m getting it that this boy’s got country cred. Please be able to sing,” said Bryan in the promo. Bryan is joined by fellow judges Lionel Richie and Katy Perry in the revival of the popular reality show.

American Idol searched the country for talent, with two bus tours that went across 22 cities. Those that passed those auditions advanced to the next auditions which took place in New York City, New Orleans, Nashville, Savannah, and Los Angeles. This sunday’s episode shows Hardy’s audition from New York City.

Hardy said “This American Idol audition is important to me because American Idol is a true test.”
