The Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office announced the Tuesday arrest of Bobby Wayne Bush. Bush evaded police who came to arrest him for an outstanding warrant on Monday.

He was discovered at a motel in Leesville and was taken into custody by VPSO deputies without incident at 10:30 a.m.

The warrant was for failure to register as a sex offender.

He was required to update his registry every three months but had not done so since December. When VPSO officers arrived at his home, Bush climbed out of a window in his home and fled on foot on Highway 8 West near the Leesville City Limit sign.

According to VPSO Detective Rhonda Jordan, it was believed that Bush was being assisted by his family or friends.

“If we determine that to be true, those people are putting themselves in a position where they will be arrested, and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Bush was initially arrested in 2013 on charges that included forcible rape, computer aided solicitation of a minor, pornography of a juvenile, false imprisonment, indecent behavior of a juvenile, and obscenity.

He was convicted in 2014 on two counts of indecent behavior of a juvenile, and served a year in prison at the Vernon Correctional Facility. He was released in November of 2015.
