The Vernon Parish Police Jury will be holding a public hearing regarding two of their proposed ordinances at the next scheduled meeting.

The meetings will be held at the regularly scheduled time next month, and will allow residents of Vernon Parish to come forth and voice any concerns or questions they have regarding the ordinances.

The public will be able to voice their input in regards to a proposed ordinance that would see to abandon a portion of Adeline road, as well as an ordinance to amend a section of the Vernon Parish Code of Ordinance. This amendment would see the speed limit for the entirety of Hill Street changed to 15 miles per hour.

The special meeting is set to be held on Monday, September 17 at 10 a.m. at the Vernon Parish Police Jury building, located at 300 South 3rd Street.

In addition to the public hearing being announced, the Vernon Parish Police Jury discussed the adoption of numerous resolutions during their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday.

These discussions included the potential of adopting a resolution that would award the bid for the Fort Polk Growth Management Infrastructure Improvements project to Williams Equipment Services, LLC, a resolution that would request funding for road repairs through the Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP) and a resolution that would adopt the adjusted millage rates for 2018.

For more information regarding these resolutions, contact the Vernon Parish Police Jury at (337) 238-0324 or visit their main building at 300 South 3rd Street from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
