Angel Marie Sanchez is set to spend the New Year's Holiday in London, England.

Sanchez is a sophomore cheerleader at Pickering High School and was selected to perform at the world-famous New Year’s Day Parade in London after impressing judges at Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) camp this past summer.

Sanchez is one of 800 high school cheerleaders across the country to represent Varsity Spirit in the parade.

Of the countless cheerleaders who participate in the UCA summer camps, only the top 12 percent are chosen to participate in the parade.

“I’m really excited about getting the opportunity to go to London,” said Sanchez. “It’s a huge honor and I can’t wait to go see Buckingham Palace. “There are so many cool things I want to see and experience over there.”

In addition to cheerleading and being a 4.0 student at Pickering High School, Sanchez works as a server at Huddle House on Fort Polk.

According to her mother, Anna Medley, Sanchez has a great work ethic.

“I am so proud of all she has accomplished,” said Medley. “She is working very hard to raise the money to go on this trip. I’m proud of her for being able to go and I know she’ll appreciate it that much more because she earned it. I’m going with her on the trip so it’ll be a great mother-daughter experience for the both of us.”

Sanchez and her mother have fundraisers planned to help raise money to get them to London.

Those who want to support Sanchez can do so by logging on to and searching for All American Varsity London Tour.

They are also selling raffle tickets, planning a car wash and will have a bake sale to help pay for the trip.

Medley expressed her gratitude to those that have supported her daughter so far.

“We are so thankful for those that have helped us out so far. A lot of our friends are business owners and they have put up donation jars and donated gift cards for raffle tickets.” Medley said.

Among those businesses is the Huddle House where Sanchez works.

Some of the gift cards that they will raffle off include Regal Cinema, Visa, and Huddle House just to name a few.

Through her own hard work and perseverance, combined with the love and support from her community, Sanchez is set to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
