In week 1, Rosepine showed last season was no fluke and intends to continue performing with the same skills that made it a force in its district over the past year, here in week 2.
The Eagles take on South Cameron this week, who are coming off a 49-25 loss to Delcambre.
South Cameron went 0-9 last year and lost to Rosepine 39-7 in its first game of the season.
The Eagles (1-0) are a favorite to repeat in District 4, a notion that was illustrated by its 35-13 win over Merryville last Thursday.
Rosepine leaned on its rushing attack, racking up 271 yards on the ground.
Seth Shirley led the way 144 yards and four touchdowns to the win.
Quarterback Seth Ducote threw for 77 yards but did most of his damage with his legs, resulting in 129 rushing yards.
Reigning District Defensive Player of the Year Scott Wisby was a force for the Rosepine defense against Merryville, forcing the Panthers to run outside of the tackles.
The defensive backs picked up three passes in week 1 with the front seven providing plenty of pressure in the backfield.
