Members of Fort Polk and the greater Vernon Parish community get down in the mud as they race across MWR’s annual 5K Swamp Run, an obstacle course that tests the mettle of all who participate while also getting them down and dirty.
The course is designed and set up by the MWR and special battalions within Fort Polk, covering a month long process of building courses and preparing for the event.
Covering 5 Kilometers around the Alligator Lake Recreation and RV Park, participants are faced with numerous obstacles to overcome, along with plenty of mud to splash around in as they do so.
The events total 15 in all, ranging from a Tire Wall that participants must climb, to a Rope Swing over a pool of mud.
No matter the challenge, the day was filled with smiles, sweat, and plenty of mud.
