The Vernon Parish College Fair was held on Tuesday, September 25 from 6-8 PM at Leesville High School (LHS).
All Vernon Parish juniors and seniors were invited to attend. So many students are unable to schedule a college visit due to transportation or financial issues.
The college fair provides the opportunity for Vernon Parish students to visit with recruiters from 4-year colleges, vocational/technical schools, and military branches in one location.
Students who attend the college fair can register with www.gotocollegefairs.com in order to create a personalized bar code that includes all of their information. Instead of completing an information card at each table, the recruiters can scan the student’s bar code to receive their information.
This allows the students more face to face time with each recruiter as opposed to spending five minutes completing information cards.
Twenty-five recruiters were set up in the LHS cafeteria to meet with students and parents. Over 100 Vernon Parish students were in attendance for the college fair.
“I was very pleased with the turnout of students and parents, and the representation of 4-year colleges, technical schools, and military branches. The college fair is a great opportunity for our students to see the various post secondary options available to them and obtain valuable information on admission requirements, scholarships, and financial aid.” Chasity Cryer, Senior Counselor at LHS.
The following schools/military branches were in attendance:
East Texas Baptist University
Louisiana State University
McNeese State University
Nicholls State University

Our Lady of the Lake College
Southern Arkansas University
