The smell of hot pancakes and sausage filled the air as the Leesville community gathered at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Leesville on Saturday Morning.
The church held their 6th annual Breakfast with Santa community event, and there were tons of excited children ready to meet Kris Kringle himself.
“This is really an event for the whole community to come out and spend the morning together,” said Tara Rindahl. She is one of the organizer’s of the event and said that it just keeps getting bigger as the years go on.
“We are so thankful for everyone who comes out to participate, and of course our hard-working volunteers.”
The event saw kids take pictures with Santa, make their own hand-painted Christmas ornaments, play fun games and of course eat all the delicious pancakes and sausage they could handle.
“We look forward to this every year,” said Richard Culepepper.
He brought his two sons Tommy and Benjamen to the event, and they were quite excited.
“Those two have been excited about this all week long. They got up at 6:30 a.m. and were making sure we got here in time.”
Culepepper said that he and other parents like the Breakfast with Santa event because it is a fun “low stress” environment for the kids to meet Santa, eat a good meal, and to have tons of fun.
“There are so many other places you go to meet Santa, and the kids are usually nervous or bored waiting in line all day,” Culepepper said. “Here they can meet Santa, make fun crafts, and play games all in one spot.”
The church considers the event a growing success and a great way for them to bring the community together.
“For everyone that missed out this year, we hope you’ll join us for all the fun next year,” Rindahl said.
