After a historic season for the Leesville football program, head coach Robert Causey collected a top award.

Causey was named Class 4A Coach of the Year by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association last week, and several area athletes also earned postseason honors.

Causey led the Wampus Cats to a 13-1 record, including a perfect 10-0 regular season and a deep playoff run, in his third season as head coach.

Leesville offensive lineman Matthew Anderson was chosen as a Class 4A All-State by the LSWA, as well.

Anderson, a University of Nebraska commit, was a standout at right tackle of the Wampus Cats, as Leesville ran for 3,256 yards and threw for 2,152 yards.
