A Pitkin man has been arrested on felony theft charges after allegedly stealing two hunting dogs last month.

Captain Tommy Carnline of the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office states that Hunter Webb, 22, of Pitkin, has been arrested on two counts of felony theft and one count of criminal trespassing.

The initial report came in on December 13th, and deputies began the investigation in conjunction with Animal Control officers. The report claimed that two dogs had been stolen from a property in the Plainview community.

While searching for the dogs, detectives received a tip that one of the missing dogs had been sold to someone in Deville.

The buyer then revealed to detectives that it was Hunter Webb that sold him the dog.

Authorities obtained arrest warrants for Webb and arrested on January 17th. He was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. He has since been released on a $1000 bond. The second dog was found at Webb’s residence.

If convicted, Webb could face up to 10 years in prison. Both dogs have since been returned to their lawful owner.
