Guests mingling and enjoying one of their famous beignets with a cup of one of their signature brews while the tunes of Dixieland jazz played in the background: That was the environment at Orleans Brews and Beignets for their grand opening celebration on Thursday.

The Leesville location is the second coffee house cafe’ concept owned by Micah and Heidi Stampley.

The Stampley’s were unable to attend the celebration because they are managing their other cafe’ located in Atlanta but they were present in spirit.

The Leesville location is managed by Heidi’s parents Walita and Ronald Jones.

In the month since their soft opening Walita explained that there have been a few changes that she feels are for the better.

They were able to take customer feedback and a few minor complaints and use them to navigate the cafe’ onto a better path.

Walita said that for the first month in business they did not expect the number of customers they have served. She said that the cafe’ concept that specializes in authentic creole food cooked fresh and made to order has been a hit with everyone.

They have had customers drive all the way from Alexandria and Opelousas just to try their food and leave very favorable comments.

From the number of customers they have had so far, it appears that Orleans Brew and Beignet will be around for quite some time.

Also on hand to welcome the new business to Leesville and help cut the ribbon were members of the Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce.
