Award winning singer and songwriter Michael Bolton will be performing live in concert at the Golden Nugget Casino Resort in Lake Charles on December 21.
Just in time for the Christmas season, Bolton is bringing his new show Michael Bolton: The Symphony Sessions, to Southwest Louisiana.
Bolton expressed that he was excited to return to Lake Charles and has high hopes for the show.
“It’s always great to be welcomed back to a community where you feel like you’ve participated in people’s lives over the years,” he said. “It’s thanks to my fans that I always feel at home even while on the road.”
He stated that fans can expect his greatest hits with a few new surprises at the show in Lake Charles. He mentioned that he wants to give the fans everything they came for and more.
“As everyone knows, I always want to deliver what the fans came for: The Greatest Hits,” he said. “ So that makes touring alongside this most recent album easy! But the difference the audience will feel is the new layers of instrumentation and some beautiful new arrangements.”
His most recent album “A Symphony of Hits” has topped the classical music charts and features Bolton performing his greatest hits with a symphony orchestra. He told the story of when he got the opportunity to perform alongside Luciano Pavoratti, one of the legendary Three Tenors.
“I have been dreaming of making this album of Greatest Hits with a full symphony orchestra for quite some time. Perhaps one of my first incredible experiences with classical music was when I was invited to sing with Lucianno Pavarotti in Modena. I truly heard music and even my own voice so differently after that experience,” Bolton said.
“There is a magical energy you feel on stage singing with the rich layers of a symphony orchestra that just inspires you in a new way. So this new treatment does breathe new life into the classic songs that I’ve been singing and performing for decades.”
Bolton expressed that “A Symphony of Hits” brings him a lot of pride because so much hard work went into it. He described this album as the culmination of five decades in music.
“This is my life’s work,” Bolton said. “It’s a catalog of music that I’ve been performing for decades all around the world and each song has a different story, represents a different moment of time for me. I put all of me into a song and I am microscopic about production, bringing all the arrangements and instruments into a place of communicating the ultimate expression of that composition.”
He spoke about the long hours with many people who helped make the album a reality. He noted that this was his 50th year in the music business, and it making this album was a surreal experience.
“It takes long hours in the studio with my patient, trusted loyal team of musicians and engineers to get a song to where I feel it’s ready,” Bolton said.
“And now to add an entire symphony orchestra to the mix, wow. It was so moving and unexpectedly really emotional for me to dive so deeply into this catalog of music, of some of my favorites, and to remember how it felt with the first recording and how much it has evolved to where we are today and with this collection celebrating my 50th year in music it’s just shocking because I still feel like I’m just that kid back in Connecticut making ends meet.”
If one thing is for sure, it is that Bolton is still excited to perform for his fans, and is thankful for all their support over the years.
“My fans are the best in the world,”he said. “Thank you for all your years of loyalty, support and mutual inspiration. And to all my new generation of fans, there’s lots more fun ahead of us.”
