The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO) has announced that a Rosepine man has been arrested and charged with one count of filing or maintaining false public records. Isom initially contacted the VPSO claiming that a food trailer valued at $46,000 was stolen from his residence in Rosepine.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Isom had leased the trailer from a company in Houston, TX.
Detectives discovered that Isom was allegedly behind on the payments, something that Isom reportedly denied when asked about it by deputies. Detectives also discovered that Isom was supposed to return the trailer on the very same day it was reported stolen.
Isom allegedly contacted the leasing company at 4 p.m. to let them know about the theft, and contacted the VPSO at 8 p.m.
Detectives were able to contact the leasing company in Houston and the company gave them GPS tracking information to find the trailer’s whereabouts. Based on the coordinates given to the VPSO, the trailer was found at a residence in Pattinson, TX by local authorities in Waller County.
The Waller County Sheriff’s Office discovered that Isom had asked an acquaintance of his if he could store the trailer at the residence temporarily. The VPSO subsequently tried to get an accurate statement from Isom regarding the trailer, but he allegedly would not cooperate with detectives.
Isom has since posted bond and released, if convicted he could spend a maximum of five years in prison at hard labor.
