A lifetime of hard work should result in a comfortable retirement. Many people move when they retire, and there are many popular locations to do so. According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly half a million people over the age of 65 moved states last year. 

A new study has named Louisiana as a new hot spot for those planning to retire and want to save some money. 

Career analysis website Zippia.com recently ranked all 50 states to find out which state was the best place to retire on a budget. Many southern states made up the top rankings of the list, and Louisiana came in at sixth overall. 

The study from Zippia stated: “In addition to delicious food, Louisiana retirees can expect low costs of living, affordable homes, and lower healthcare costs.”

Data gathered by the website found that the median cost of a home in Louisiana was $157, 800. The study also stated that the average monthly Medicare cost was $41.98, and it also stated that the annual cost of living was $47,975.
