The global COVID-19 pandemic has caused the cancellation of many events. It was announced on Friday that the Louisiana Railroad Days Festival would be officially cancelled. The festival is a staple of SWLA, and many were disappointed at the announcement.

The following statement was released by the Louisiana Railroad Days Festival Facebook Page:

“It’s with a heavy heart that the DeQuincy Federated Service League has no choice but to cancel the 2020 Louisiana Railroad Days Festival due to upcoming phases of the Corvid-19.

Protecting our small community and many faithful visitors that come every year to celebrate with us is of utmost importance to us. We love and appreciate your support and understanding in this decision. We look forward to planning the 2021 festival, April 8-10, 2021. The 2020/21 Louisiana Railroad Days Festival Pageant will be held at a later date. We will set the date soon as possible.”

Originally the festival was going to be postponed to a later date, but the League ultimately decided to cancel the event. They announced that the next festival would be held on April 8-10, 2021. For more information log on to the Louisiana Railroad Days Festival Facebook Page.
