With the win the 14th ranked Wampus Cats improved to (18-11, 3-2), while Rayne fell to (10-13, 0-5).

Leesville wasted little time on Friday evening as the Wampus Cats outscored the Wolves 13-to-7 in the first period taking a five point lead after one period.

The Wampus Cat offense was consistant in the second period as their offense banked 15 points. The Wolves bettered themselves in the second period with nine points, but continued to trail Leesville at halftime 28-16.

Rayne came out strong in the second half, with a game high 15 points in the third period. However, the Cats offense netted 14 points extending the Wampus Cat lead to 42-31 after three periods.

Rayne finished strong with 12 points in the fourth period, but couldn’t overcome their first half deficit falling 52-43.

Derrick Brock led the Cats with 18 points, while teammate Darrion Nabors finished with 17 points rounding out the Wampus Cat double-digit scorers.

Leesville returns to the hardwood at home on Tuesday against LaGrange.
