Louisiana COVID death toll rises to 3,700 Tuesday; hospitalizations drop
Louisiana's COVID-19 death toll rose to 3,700 Tuesday after the state reported 26 more coronavirus-related fatalities.
But hospitalizations dropped by 17 to 1,583, which is only the second time since July 8 the state reported a decrease in daily in-patient admissions.
Coronavirus hospitalizations have almost tripled since June 13.
Patients who needed ventilators rose by six to 214.
Louisiana reported 1,121 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, raising the state's total to 111,038.
The state is No. 1 per capita in the United States in cases.
