BPSO announces reestablishment of Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office Horse Posse
Sheriff Mark Herford proudly announces the reestablishment of the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Horse Posse.
“I am very excited to have them on duty. There are many, many things that they can do. Some people may have seen them in the Fair Parade and later, on the parking lot at the fairgrounds. They are uniquely situated to handle Search and Rescue missions, as well as providing security at large capacity events, such as the fair.”
Herford said that the Horse Posse has a long history with the Sheriff’s Office. “When I first became a deputy, we had a Horse Posse. They were active and very useful to the department. I’m not sure why they went inactive, but I’m so glad that we have them back.”
The fair parade was their first official appearance in public, but they have been training for several months. They continue to train several times a month and their abilities are already paying off.
“I’m so proud of the work they’re doing. They were instrumental in a drug arrest this past week on the parking lot, outside of the fairgrounds. I really look forward to watching them develop their skills and seeing just how good they’re going to be for Beauregard Parish.”
