Merryville, DeRidder victorious; SBHS falls in seventh

Merryville senior Ross Cournoyer surrendered just one run in Tuesday's win over Gueydan, 6-1.

MERRYVILLE - Ross Cournoyer scattered 11 hits over seven innings, while Kaden Treme had an RBI-triple as the Merryville Panthers downed the Gueydan Bears in district action on Tuesday, 6-1. 

Cournoyer surrendered only one run as he struck out two batters. He aided his own cause by driving in a run. 

Zack Cleveland and Causey Owen each added a hit and an RBI for the Panthers.

DeRIDDER - Dawson Hebert fired a five-hitter in leading the DeRidder Dragons to a 3-2 non-district victory over the Iota Bulldogs on Tuesday. 

Hebert struck out seven batters and gave up only two runs as he pitched all seven innings. 

Alex Brannan and Ross Picou each had a hit and an RBI, while Hebert added a hit. 

Despite 12 strikeouts, Iota's Gavin LeBlanc suffered the loss.

South Beauregard....1 

LAKE CHARLES - The St. Louis Saints pushed a run across with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to pull of a 2-1 district victory over the visiting South Beauregard Golden Knights. 

The winning run was scored on an error by the Golden Knights. 

South Beauregard got a solid pitching performance from Rett Bowman, who gave up only three hits and two runs en route to striking out 12 Saints. 

Britton Coleman drove in the only South Beauregard run of the game as he was 1-for-2 at the plate.

East Beauregard....9 

DRY CREEK - Landon Vidrine and Bret Bass combined for seven RBIs to lead the Oberlin Tigers past East Beauregard in district action on Tuesday, 16-9. 

Vidrine had three hits and four RBIs, while Bass had a pair of hits and three RBIs. 

Jacob Gimnich suffered the loss on the mound for the Trojans, giving up 13 runs on eight hits with four strikeouts. 

Gimnich had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored offensively, while Hayden Farmer and Freddy Beall each finished with a pair of hits.
