Pirates blank Pleasant Hill; Rosepine, Simpson win
PLEASANT HILL - The top-ranked Hicks Pirates had no trouble Tuesday evening dismantling the Pleasant Hill Eagles in district play, 15-0.
Zach Haymon and Brad Pelt combined for nine strikeouts in a combined one-hitter. Offensively, Haymon added a triple and three RBIs, while Pelt had a pair of hits, including a double, and three RBIs. They each scored a run as well.
Conner Helton added a triple among his two hits with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Dylan Williams had three hits and two runs scored.
VINTON - Braden Trull threw 5.1 strong innings, while also adding two hits to lift the Rosepine Eagles to a Tuesday district win over the Vinton Lions, 5-1.
Logan Calcote, Ethan Frey, Cole Donahue and Trull all had two hits, while Jake Smith had a double and an RBI.
Trull gave up one run on three hits with six strikeouts en route to the victory.
LeCOMPTE - Ethan Nash gave up five hits and struck out 10 in leading the Simpson Broncos to a 5-3 win on Tuesday over University Academy in non-district play.
Rhett Petre had a triple among his two hits, while also scoring a run and driving in one, while Quinton Williams had two hits and a run scored.
