Rosepine dominates Delhi Charter, 12-2

ROSEPINE - It was another solid day at the office Saturday for the Rosepine Eagles.

The second-ranked Eagles had three players record multiple hits as they decimated Delhi Charter in the second and deciding game in a Class 2A regional best-of-3 series, 12-2.

With the victory, Rosepine advanced to a quarterfinal series with seventh-seeded Fisher this weekend. Game 1 is slated for 6 p.m. Friday, with Game 2 beginning at noon Saturday. If necessary, Game 3 would begin around 2:30 p.m.

The Eagles took control early on, building a 4-0 lead after scoring twice in the first and second innings.

After a couple of quiet innings, Rosepine broke loose for eight runs in the top of the fifth for a 12-0 advantage.

The Gators managed to push two runs across in the bottom half of the frame, but the Eagles slammed the door on any more as Rosepine took the win by mercy rule.

Braden Trull was the winning pitcher for the Eagles, giving up two runs on one hit with six strikeouts. He also added a double, a run scored and two RBIs in the victory.

Logan Calcote had a pair of hits for the Eagles, including a double, with two runs scored and two RBIs, while Brady Phelps had a double among his two hits with two runs scored.

Grant Ducote also had two hits and an RBI, while Ethan Frey had a hit, two runs scored and an RBI.

Reid Arledge took the loss for Delhi Charter. He also had the Gators' only hit of the game.
