LSU freshman defensive lineman Maason Smith made quite an impression in his college football debut against UCLA on Saturday.

He was the talk of social media during the game. 

The 6-foot-6, 292-pound Smith comes to the Tigers after being a five-star talent at Terrebonne High School. His hometown is Houma, Louisiana. 

UCLA defeated LSU 38-27. 

One fan tweeted, "Maason Smith is a hoss. He earned that extra a in his name, Jack."

LSU, ranked No. 13 in the USA Today Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, came into the game after going 5-5 during the 2020 season. UCLA opened the season with a 44-10 win against Hawaii on Aug. 28. 

This marks the first matchup between these two football programs.
